Description
A comforting Southern twist on a classic goulash, combining pasta, ground meat, and rich tomato sauce with spices.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef
- 2 cups elbow macaroni
- 2 cups tomato sauce
- 1 cup chopped bell peppers
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp Italian seasoning
- Salt to taste
- Pepper to taste
- 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
Instructions
- In a large pot over medium heat, brown the ground beef until it’s no longer pink. Drain any excess fat if needed.
- Add chopped onion, bell peppers, and minced garlic to the pot with the meat. Cook until the veggies are soft and fragrant.
- Mix in the tomato sauce and Italian seasoning. Let it simmer for about 5 minutes.
- Stir in elbow macaroni along with water or broth, and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and cover, cooking until the pasta is tender.
- Stir in salt, pepper, and cheddar cheese until everything is combined and gooey.
- Serve hot, with extra cheese on top if desired.
Notes
Don’t overcook the pasta; it will continue cooking once added. Feel free to experiment with spices and add more veggies if desired.
