Description

A comforting Southern twist on a classic goulash, combining pasta, ground meat, and rich tomato sauce with spices.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 2 cups elbow macaroni
  • 2 cups tomato sauce
  • 1 cup chopped bell peppers
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp Italian seasoning
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded

Instructions

  1. In a large pot over medium heat, brown the ground beef until it’s no longer pink. Drain any excess fat if needed.
  2. Add chopped onion, bell peppers, and minced garlic to the pot with the meat. Cook until the veggies are soft and fragrant.
  3. Mix in the tomato sauce and Italian seasoning. Let it simmer for about 5 minutes.
  4. Stir in elbow macaroni along with water or broth, and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and cover, cooking until the pasta is tender.
  5. Stir in salt, pepper, and cheddar cheese until everything is combined and gooey.
  6. Serve hot, with extra cheese on top if desired.

Notes

Don’t overcook the pasta; it will continue cooking once added. Feel free to experiment with spices and add more veggies if desired.
