- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar (plus more for filling)
- 2 tablespoons cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Mix the Dough: In a large bowl, combine the active sourdough starter, warm milk, sugar, softened butter, and eggs. Stir until well blended, then add flour and salt, mixing until a sticky dough forms.
- Knead the Dough: Transfer to a floured surface and knead for 5-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- First Rise: Place dough in an oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let rise for 2-3 hours or until doubled in size.
- Prepare the Filling: Mix sugar and cinnamon for the filling and set aside.
- Shape the Rolls: Roll dough into a large rectangle, spread softened butter, sprinkle cinnamon-sugar mixture, roll tightly, and slice into 12 pieces.
- Second Rise: Place rolls in a greased baking dish, cover, and let rise for 30-45 minutes until puffy.
- Bake: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
- Icing: Mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla to drizzle over baked rolls.

Use an active sourdough starter for best results. Room temperature ingredients yield better texture.
