Description

Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar (plus more for filling)
  • 2 tablespoons cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon salt


Instructions

  1. Mix the Dough: In a large bowl, combine the active sourdough starter, warm milk, sugar, softened butter, and eggs. Stir until well blended, then add flour and salt, mixing until a sticky dough forms.
  2. Knead the Dough: Transfer to a floured surface and knead for 5-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  3. First Rise: Place dough in an oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let rise for 2-3 hours or until doubled in size.
  4. Prepare the Filling: Mix sugar and cinnamon for the filling and set aside.
  5. Shape the Rolls: Roll dough into a large rectangle, spread softened butter, sprinkle cinnamon-sugar mixture, roll tightly, and slice into 12 pieces.
  6. Second Rise: Place rolls in a greased baking dish, cover, and let rise for 30-45 minutes until puffy.
  7. Bake: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Icing: Mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla to drizzle over baked rolls.
