Description

A delightful blend of fudgy brownies and a tangy cream cheese swirl, these Red Velvet Cheesecake Brownies are perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1 tsp white vinegar
  • 1 tbsp red food coloring
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and line an 8×8 inch pan with parchment paper.
  2. Whisk together flour, cocoa, baking powder, and baking soda in a bowl.
  3. In another bowl, beat melted butter with sugar, then mix in eggs, vanilla, buttermilk, vinegar, and red food coloring.
  4. Fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
  5. In a separate bowl, beat cream cheese with powdered sugar and an egg until smooth.
  6. Spread half of the red velvet batter into the prepared pan.
  7. Dollop cream cheese filling on top and add remaining red velvet batter in blobs.
  8. Swirl with a skewer or knife to create swirls.
  9. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, until center is mostly set but slightly jiggly.
  10. Cool on a rack for an hour, then chill in the fridge for at least two hours.
  11. Slice into squares and serve.

Notes

For best results, chill before slicing and use room-temperature cream cheese.
