Ingredients
Scale
- 36 Oreos, finely crushed
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 12 ounces semi-sweet or dark chocolate, for dipping
- 6 ounces candy melts or white chocolate chips (optional)
- 1/2 cup crushed peppermint candies or candy canes, for garnish
- 1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract (optional)
Instructions
- Place Oreos in a food processor and pulse until crumbs form.
- Transfer crumbs to a bowl and mix in cream cheese and peppermint extract until fully combined.
- Cover the bowl and chill for 30 minutes.
- Scoop tablespoon-sized portions and roll into smooth balls.
- Freeze the truffles for about 15 minutes.
- Melt chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl in 20-second intervals, stirring in between.
- Dip each truffle in melted chocolate and let excess chocolate drip back into the bowl.
- Sprinkle crushed peppermint on top immediately after dipping.
- For a drizzle, melt candy melts or white chocolate and drizzle over the cooled truffles.
- Let the chocolate set at room temperature or in the fridge, then store in an airtight container for up to two weeks.
Notes
Chill the mixture well for easier handling and smoother rolling. Store truffles in a single layer to prevent sticking.
