Description

A deliciously comforting patty melt featuring a juicy beef patty, melted cheese, caramelized onions, and a zingy secret sauce, all grilled to perfection.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb Ground Beef (80/20)
  • 1 Sweet Onion, thinly sliced
  • 4 slices Swiss or Cheddar Cheese
  • 4 slices Sourdough or Rye Bread
  • 2 tbsp Butter
  • 4 tbsp Secret Sauce (Mayonnaise, Ketchup, Mustard)


Instructions

  1. In a skillet, melt a tablespoon of butter over medium heat. Add thinly sliced onions and cook until golden brown, about 15-20 minutes.
  2. Shape the ground beef into patties, about the size of bread slices. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. Cook the patties in the same skillet for about 4-5 minutes on each side until desired doneness. Add cheese on top during the last minute to melt.
  4. Spread secret sauce on one side of each slice of bread. Add a patty, caramelized onions, and top with another slice of bread, sauce-side down.
  5. Wipe the skillet clean, add more butter, and grill the sandwich until golden brown on both sides, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  6. Cut the sandwich in half and enjoy!

Notes

Serve with pickles and sweet potato fries. Experiment with different cheeses for variety.
