A deliciously comforting patty melt featuring a juicy beef patty, melted cheese, caramelized onions, and a zingy secret sauce, all grilled to perfection.

- 1 lb Ground Beef (80/20)
- 1 Sweet Onion, thinly sliced
- 4 slices Swiss or Cheddar Cheese
- 4 slices Sourdough or Rye Bread
- 2 tbsp Butter
- 4 tbsp Secret Sauce (Mayonnaise, Ketchup, Mustard)
Instructions
- In a skillet, melt a tablespoon of butter over medium heat. Add thinly sliced onions and cook until golden brown, about 15-20 minutes.
- Shape the ground beef into patties, about the size of bread slices. Season with salt and pepper.
- Cook the patties in the same skillet for about 4-5 minutes on each side until desired doneness. Add cheese on top during the last minute to melt.
- Spread secret sauce on one side of each slice of bread. Add a patty, caramelized onions, and top with another slice of bread, sauce-side down.
- Wipe the skillet clean, add more butter, and grill the sandwich until golden brown on both sides, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- Cut the sandwich in half and enjoy!
Notes
Serve with pickles and sweet potato fries. Experiment with different cheeses for variety.
