- 1 pound ground beef or sausage (or turkey/chicken for a leaner option)
- 1 cup diced bell peppers
- 1 cup diced onion (red or yellow)
- 1 cup low-sugar pizza sauce
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup sliced olives (black or green)
- 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large skillet, brown the ground beef or sausage over medium heat.
- Add diced bell peppers and onion, sauté until soft (about 5 minutes).
- Stir in the pizza sauce and Italian seasoning, simmer for 1-2 minutes.
- In a casserole dish, layer half of the meat mixture, half of the cheese, and some olives. Repeat the layers ending with cheese.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Allow to cool for a few minutes before serving hot.
