Description
A comforting homemade Salisbury steak served with savory gravy, perfect for family dinners.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef (80/20 mix)
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 1 egg
- 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 cup sliced mushrooms
- 2 tbsp oil (olive or vegetable)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, egg, Worcestershire sauce, and garlic powder. Mix until just blended.
- Shape the mixture into oval patties, about 1 inch thick.
- In a large skillet, heat oil over medium heat. Add the patties and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side until browned. Remove from the pan and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add sliced mushrooms and sauté until tender, about 5 minutes.
- Pour in the beef broth and stir in any drippings from the patties. Bring to a simmer and let thicken slightly.
- Return the patties to the skillet, cover, and cook for an additional 10 minutes to absorb flavors.
Notes
Do not overmix the meat mixture and allow patties to rest in the fridge for 30 minutes before cooking for best results.
