Description

A delightful blend of festive gingerbread flavors and rich chocolate in a cozy brownie form.


Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 2 teaspoons ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chocolate chips (optional)


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8×8 inch baking pan.
  2. Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over low heat and stir in both sugars until combined.
  3. Remove the saucepan from heat and mix in the eggs, one at a time.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, ground ginger, cinnamon, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Slowly incorporate the dry ingredients into the wet mixture and add chocolate chips if desired.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes, until a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs. Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  8. Once cool, cut into squares and enjoy! Optionally, dust with powdered sugar or serve with ice cream.

Notes

Mix just until the flour is incorporated for fudgy brownies. Use quality cocoa and spices for best flavor.
