Description

A comforting dish featuring savory steak and creamy, cheesy potatoes in rich garlic butter.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb steak (ribeye or sirloin preferred)
  • 2-3 large Yukon Gold potatoes, sliced thin
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • Fresh parsley or chives for garnish


Instructions

  1. Season the steak generously with salt and pepper. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat, add 1 tablespoon of butter, and sear the steak for about 4-5 minutes on each side. Remove and let it rest.
  2. In the same skillet, add 3 tablespoons of butter, minced garlic, and paprika. Sizzle for a minute.
  3. While the garlic butter is cooking, slice the potatoes thinly for even cooking.
  4. In a baking dish, layer the sliced potatoes, drizzle with garlic butter, top with chunks of steak, and sprinkle generously with cheese.
  5. Pour the heavy cream evenly over the dish.
  6. Cover with foil and bake at 375°F (190°C) for 30-35 minutes. Remove foil and bake for another 10-15 minutes until tender and bubbly.
  7. Garnish with fresh herbs before serving.

Notes

Use room temperature steak for even cooking. You can add other vegetables like bell peppers or mushrooms for extra flavor.
