Description

A fluffy and aromatic Italian flatbread infused with garlic and topped with buttery goodness, perfect for dipping or as a side dish.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 3 to 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • ¼ cup olive oil, plus extra for drizzling
  • 4 to 5 cloves garlic, minced
  • Fresh rosemary (optional)


Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 to 10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt.
  3. Pour the yeast mixture and olive oil into the flour. Stir until a sticky dough forms.
  4. Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.
  6. Melt the butter in a small pan and add the minced garlic and chopped rosemary. Cook until fragrant.
  7. Once risen, punch down the dough and spread it onto a greased baking sheet, dimpling the surface with your fingers.
  8. Cover with a towel and let it rise for another 30 minutes.
  9. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). Pour the garlic butter over the top and sprinkle with additional herbs and sea salt.
  10. Bake for around 20-25 minutes or until golden brown. Let it cool slightly before slicing.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container for 2-3 days at room temperature. Reheat to freshen it up.
