Ingredients
Scale
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup powdered sugar (for frosting)
- 2 tablespoons milk (for frosting)
- Food coloring (optional, for frosting)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until fluffy. Mix in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.
- In another bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, and salt.
- Gradually incorporate the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
- Pour the batter into your prepared pan and spread it evenly. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out slightly moist.
- Let the brownies cool in the pan for at least 15 minutes before frosting.
- In a bowl, mix powdered sugar, a splash of milk, and optional food coloring until smooth.
- Once cooled, frost the brownies generously and let the frosting set before cutting into squares.
Notes
Use room temperature ingredients for a smoother batter. Don’t skip the cooling time; frosting warm brownies may create a melty mess.
