Ingredients
Scale
- 3-4 Granny Smith or Honeycrisp apples, cored and sliced into rings
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 cup whole milk (or plant-based milk)
- 1 egg (or flax egg for vegan option)
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- Oil for frying (vegetable or canola)
Instructions
- Wash and slice the apples into rings, about half an inch thick.
- In one bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and cinnamon.
- In another bowl, combine the milk and egg, then gradually add to the dry ingredients and mix until just blended.
- Heat about two inches of oil in a deep pan or skillet over medium heat.
- Dip each apple ring into the batter, allowing excess to drip off.
- Carefully place rings in the hot oil and fry for 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown.
- Transfer fried rings to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
- Dust with cinnamon and sugar while still warm, then serve.
Notes
Choose firmer apples for better results. Test oil temperature with a small piece of bread before frying.
