Description

Delightful fried apple rings coated in a light batter, crispy on the outside and tender inside. Perfect for any occasion!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3-4 Granny Smith or Honeycrisp apples, cored and sliced into rings
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup whole milk (or plant-based milk)
  • 1 egg (or flax egg for vegan option)
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • Oil for frying (vegetable or canola)

Instructions

  1. Wash and slice the apples into rings, about half an inch thick.
  2. In one bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and cinnamon.
  3. In another bowl, combine the milk and egg, then gradually add to the dry ingredients and mix until just blended.
  4. Heat about two inches of oil in a deep pan or skillet over medium heat.
  5. Dip each apple ring into the batter, allowing excess to drip off.
  6. Carefully place rings in the hot oil and fry for 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown.
  7. Transfer fried rings to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
  8. Dust with cinnamon and sugar while still warm, then serve.

Notes

Choose firmer apples for better results. Test oil temperature with a small piece of bread before frying.
