Description

Warm and comforting dessert featuring spiced apple filling and flaky pastry crust, perfect for fall.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4-5 firm apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
  • 3/4 cup white sugar (or brown sugar)
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 egg

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Peel, core, and slice the apples, then toss them with sugar and cinnamon in a bowl.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and salt. Cut in the butter until crumbly, then add the egg to form a soft dough.
  4. Divide the dough, roll out the first half and place it in the baking dish.
  5. Layer the drained apple filling over the crust.
  6. Roll out the second half of the dough, cover the apples, and crimp the edges. Cut slits on top.
  7. Bake for 35-40 minutes until golden and bubbly.
  8. Let cool slightly before slicing to serve.

Notes

Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. Drizzle with caramel sauce for extra indulgence.
