- 4-5 firm apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
- 3/4 cup white sugar (or brown sugar)
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 egg
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Peel, core, and slice the apples, then toss them with sugar and cinnamon in a bowl.
- In a separate bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and salt. Cut in the butter until crumbly, then add the egg to form a soft dough.
- Divide the dough, roll out the first half and place it in the baking dish.
- Layer the drained apple filling over the crust.
- Roll out the second half of the dough, cover the apples, and crimp the edges. Cut slits on top.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes until golden and bubbly.
- Let cool slightly before slicing to serve.
Notes
Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. Drizzle with caramel sauce for extra indulgence.
