- 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup granulated sugar or light brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Royal icing ingredients: powdered sugar, meringue powder, and water
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and a pinch of salt.
- In a separate bowl, beat the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Mix in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients until a dough forms.
- Cover the dough with plastic wrap and chill in the fridge for at least 30 minutes.
- Dust a surface with flour and roll the chilled dough to about 1/4-inch thickness.
- Cut cookies using cookie cutters and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are just golden; let cool.
- Decorate with royal icing and add any desired sprinkles.
Notes
Chill the dough to prevent spreading. Let the icing dry completely before stacking cookies.
