Description

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour (for pie crust)
  • 1/4 cup ice water (for pie crust)


Instructions

  1. Prepare the Crust: If you’re making your own pie crust, mix flour and salt, cut in cold butter until crumbly, then add ice water until it holds together. Roll it out and place it in a pie dish.
  2. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  3. Prepare the Apples: Core, peel, and slice your apples. Toss them in a bowl with granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, lemon juice, and a bit of flour.
  4. Fill the Pie: Pour the apple mixture into the prepared crust, mounding it slightly higher in the center.
  5. Top it Off: Roll out your second crust, place it on top, and cut slits for steam to escape. Crimp the edges together to seal.
  6. Bake: Place in the oven for about 45-50 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbling.
  7. Cool: Let it set for at least 2 hours before slicing.

Notes

Serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for a delightful treat. Using a mix of sweet and tart apples enhances flavor complexity.
