Ingredients

  • Eggs (as directed on the cake mix box)
  • 1/2 cup softened butter
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese or vanilla frosting
  • 1 cup chocolate chips (for coating)
  • Sprinkles or edible glitter (optional)


Instructions

  1. Bake the cake according to package directions and allow it to cool completely.
  2. Crumble the cooled cake into a large mixing bowl.
  3. Gradually mix in the frosting until a dough-like consistency is achieved.
  4. Roll small portions into balls (about 1 inch), or shape them into trees.
  5. Chill the truffles on a parchment-lined tray for about 30 minutes.
  6. Melt the chocolate chips according to package instructions.
  7. Dip each chilled truffle into the melted chocolate, then place back on the parchment.
  8. Before the chocolate sets, add holiday sprinkles or edible glitter.
  9. Refrigerate until the chocolate hardens.
