Description

Light and crisp Christmas Meringue Cookies that are perfect for the holiday season, adding a sweet crunch to any festive gathering.


Ingredients

  • 4 Egg whites
  • 1 cup Granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon Cream of tartar
  • Food coloring (optional)


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 200°F (about 95°C).
  2. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  3. In a large clean bowl, whip the egg whites until frothy using an electric mixer.
  4. Add the cream of tartar and beat until soft peaks form.
  5. Gradually sprinkle in the granulated sugar while the mixer is running until stiff peaks form.
  6. Mix in the vanilla extract and fold in food coloring if desired.
  7. Pipe dollops of meringue onto the prepared baking sheets.
  8. Bake for about 1.5 hours until dry and crisp. Turn off the oven and leave the cookies inside to cool completely.
