Description

Chewy, chocolatey cookies filled with dark chocolate chips and tart cherries, perfect for holiday gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp almond extract
  • 1 cup dark chocolate chips
  • 1 cup dried cherries


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes.
  4. Add in the eggs, vanilla extract, and almond extract; mix until well combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients into the wet and mix until just combined.
  6. Fold in the dark chocolate chips and dried cherries gently.
  7. Scoop tablespoon-sized amounts of dough onto prepared baking sheets, leaving space between them.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are set but the centers are still soft.
  9. Let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Chill the dough for about 30 minutes before baking for thicker cookies. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to a week.
