- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp almond extract
- 1 cup dark chocolate chips
- 1 cup dried cherries
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In another bowl, cream the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes.
- Add in the eggs, vanilla extract, and almond extract; mix until well combined.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients into the wet and mix until just combined.
- Fold in the dark chocolate chips and dried cherries gently.
- Scoop tablespoon-sized amounts of dough onto prepared baking sheets, leaving space between them.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are set but the centers are still soft.
- Let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
Chill the dough for about 30 minutes before baking for thicker cookies. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to a week.
