Description

A delightful hybrid dessert that combines the rich flavor of brownies with the comforting taste of banana bread.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2-3 ripe bananas
  • 1 cup granulated sugar (or brown sugar)
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line an 8-inch square baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. Mash the ripe bananas in a mixing bowl until smooth. Add sugar, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract, and mix until combined.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture. Stir until just combined—don’t overmix!
  5. Fold in chocolate chips if using.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread it evenly.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out mostly clean. Let it cool before cutting into squares.

Notes

Use very ripe bananas for the best flavor and moisture. Avoid over-mixing the batter for optimal texture.
