Description
A delightful hybrid dessert that combines the rich flavor of brownies with the comforting taste of banana bread.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2-3 ripe bananas
- 1 cup granulated sugar (or brown sugar)
- 1/2 cup butter, melted
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- Pinch of salt
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line an 8-inch square baking pan with parchment paper.
- Mash the ripe bananas in a mixing bowl until smooth. Add sugar, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract, and mix until combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture. Stir until just combined—don’t overmix!
- Fold in chocolate chips if using.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread it evenly.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out mostly clean. Let it cool before cutting into squares.
Notes
Use very ripe bananas for the best flavor and moisture. Avoid over-mixing the batter for optimal texture.
