Description

A delightful dessert featuring custard-soaked bread bursting with fresh berries, perfect for brunch or a family gathering.


Ingredients

  • Day-old bread (brioche or challah)
  • Mixed berries (fresh or thawed frozen)
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 3/4 cup sugar (white or brown)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • Butter (for greasing)


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Tear the bread into bite-sized pieces and place in a large mixing bowl.
  3. Whisk together eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla, and cinnamon in a separate bowl until well-blended.
  4. Pour the egg mixture over the bread and gently fold in the mixed berries. Let sit for 10-15 minutes.
  5. Grease a baking dish with butter, then pour the mixture in and spread evenly.
  6. Bake for 45-50 minutes until golden brown on top and set in the middle.
  7. Let cool for a few minutes before serving.
