- 4 cups stale French bread or brioche, cut into cubes
- 4 large eggs
- 2 cups whole milk or almond milk
- 1 cup heavy cream or half-and-half
- 1 cup granulated sugar or brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup caramel sauce, for drizzling
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Cut the stale bread into bite-sized cubes.
- Whisk together the eggs, milk, cream, sugar, vanilla, and salt in a separate bowl until well combined.
- Pour the custard mixture over the bread cubes and gently fold to combine.
- Let the mixture sit for 15-30 minutes to soak.
- Drizzle some caramel sauce into the mixture and swirl gently.
- Transfer to a greased baking dish and spread evenly.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes, until golden brown and set in the center.
- Let cool for a few minutes and drizzle additional caramel sauce on top.
