A warm and comforting dessert made with creamy custard and rich caramel sauce, perfect for cozy nights and special gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • Day-old French bread or brioche
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 cups whole milk or half-and-half
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • Caramel sauce for drizzling

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Tear the bread into bite-sized pieces.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, brown sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth.
  4. Add the torn bread to the egg mixture and let it soak for about 15-20 minutes.
  5. Melt some butter and pour it into a greased baking dish.
  6. Gently fold the soaked bread mixture into the baking dish.
  7. Bake for about 30-35 minutes or until it’s set and golden on top.
  8. Let it cool for a few minutes, then drizzle caramel sauce on top before serving.

Notes

Use stale bread for better absorption and consider adding nuts or chocolate chips for variation.
