Description

A comforting dessert that turns stale bread into a delightful treat with juicy mixed berries.


Ingredients

  • Day-old bread (brioche or challah)
  • Mixed berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries)
  • Large eggs
  • Whole milk (or almond/oat milk)
  • Heavy cream (or half-and-half)
  • Granulated sugar (or brown sugar)
  • Vanilla extract (or vanilla bean paste)
  • Pinch of salt


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Tear the bread into bite-sized pieces and place them in a greased baking dish.
  3. Toss the mixed berries over the bread, spreading them evenly.
  4. In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, cream, sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth, then pour over the bread and berries.
  5. Allow the mixture to sit for about 15-20 minutes.
  6. Bake for about 30-40 minutes until the top is golden and a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Allow to cool slightly before serving.
