Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 3 large egg whites, room temperature
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Food coloring (optional)


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Sift together almond flour and powdered sugar in a bowl.
  3. In a clean bowl, whip egg whites until foamy, gradually adding granulated sugar until stiff peaks form.
  4. Gently mix in vanilla extract and food coloring if using.
  5. Carefully fold the dry ingredients into the meringue until just combined.
  6. Pipe small circles of batter onto the lined sheets, leaving space between them, and tap the trays to release air bubbles.
  7. Let the macarons rest at room temperature for 30-60 minutes until a skin forms.
  8. Bake for 15-20 minutes until they rise and form a crisp shell, then cool completely before filling.

Notes

Use room temperature egg whites for better meringue. Make sure to rest the macarons before baking for the perfect texture.
