Description

A comforting and cheesy baked dish featuring soft gnocchi, rich bolognese sauce, and gooey cheese, perfect for weeknight dinners.


Ingredients

  • 1 package gnocchi
  • 1 lb ground beef or sausage (or turkey/plant-based alternative)
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tbsp olive oil


Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the gnocchi and cook according to package instructions until they float, about 2-3 minutes. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add diced onion and cook for 5-7 minutes until soft.
  3. Add minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
  4. Stir in ground beef or sausage and cook until browned and cooked through; drain excess fat.
  5. Pour in crushed tomatoes, sprinkle Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Stir and let simmer for 10 minutes.
  6. Mix the cooked gnocchi into the bolognese sauce until fully coated.
  7. Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish. Top with shredded mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
  8. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until cheese is bubbly and golden.

Notes

For extra flavor, consider adding chopped spinach or mushrooms, or use homemade gnocchi for a special touch.
