Description

A hearty casserole of soft gnocchi smothered in rich bolognese sauce topped with melting mozzarella and parmesan cheese.


Ingredients

  • 1 package gnocchi
  • 1 lb ground beef or sausage
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1/2 cup parmesan cheese, grated
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp olive oil


Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the gnocchi and cook according to package instructions (2-3 minutes). Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Cook the diced onion until soft (3-4 minutes), then stir in minced garlic for about a minute.
  3. Add ground beef or sausage, breaking up the meat while it cooks (5-7 minutes). Drain excess fat.
  4. Pour in crushed tomatoes, add Italian seasoning, and season with salt and pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes.
  5. Gently mix the cooked gnocchi into the sauce until well-coated.
  6. Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish, then top with mozzarella and parmesan cheese.
  7. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake for 25-30 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden brown.

Notes

Use fresh ingredients for the best flavor. Adjust the garlic and seasoning to your taste, and feel free to combine different cheeses.
