- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup cocoa powder
- 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup caramel sauce
- 1 cup chopped pecans
- 2 cups chocolate frosting
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour your cake pans.
- In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt; whisk together.
- In another bowl, mix eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla until well combined.
- Gradually add wet ingredients to dry, mixing until smooth.
- Divide batter between the prepared pans, smoothing the tops.
- Bake for about 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Cool the layers in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
- Layer cooled cakes with caramel sauce and sprinkle chopped pecans between layers.
- Frost the entire cake with chocolate frosting and drizzle caramel on top. Garnish with pecans if desired.
Notes
For a vegan option, substitute eggs with flax eggs and milk with almond milk.
