Description
Delicate, buttery cookies cut into flower shapes, perfect for springtime gatherings and a delightful treat for tea parties.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- ½ teaspoon salt
- Optional: Food coloring for decorating
- Optional: Icing sugar for dusting
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Mix in the vanilla extract until well combined.
- In another bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour and salt, then gradually add this dry mix to the butter mixture, stirring until combined to form a soft dough.
- Roll out the dough to about ¼-inch thickness and use cookie cutters to shape into flowers. Place them on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until lightly golden on the edges. They will firm up as they cool.
- Allow the cookies to cool completely. Optionally, mix icing sugar with water and food coloring to decorate them.
Notes
Chill the dough if it’s too soft to manage. Mix just until combined to keep the cookies tender.
