Description

A comforting and creamy green bean casserole with a crispy fried onion topping, perfect for family gatherings and holiday dinners.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed and cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1 cup fried onions
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Bring a pot of salted water to a boil and blanch the green beans for 5 minutes, then drain and set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, combine sour cream, cream of mushroom soup, garlic powder, chopped onion, and season with salt and pepper.
  4. Add the blanched green beans to the sauce mixture and stir until everything is coated.
  5. Pour the mixture into a greased casserole dish.
  6. Sprinkle fried onions generously on top.
  7. Bake for about 25-30 minutes until bubbly and golden.

Notes

For a lighter version, you can substitute sour cream with Greek yogurt. You can also make the casserole a day in advance.
