Description

A delightful syrup that captures the warm flavors of banana bread, perfect for pancakes, waffles, or ice cream.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream (optional)

Instructions

  1. Mash the ripe bananas in a bowl until smooth.
  2. Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat until bubbly and slightly browned.
  3. Add the mashed bananas, brown sugar, maple syrup, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla extract to the saucepan. Stir until well-blended.
  4. Reduce heat and simmer for about 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally until thickened.
  5. If using, stir in the heavy cream after thickening and simmer for another couple of minutes.
  6. Remove from heat, let cool slightly, then transfer to a jar or container. Store in the fridge for up to a week.

Notes

For a vegan version, substitute coconut oil for butter and use coconut milk instead of heavy cream. Adjust sweetness to taste.
