A delightful syrup that captures the warm flavors of banana bread, perfect for pancakes, waffles, or ice cream.
Ingredients

- 3 ripe bananas, mashed
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/4 cup maple syrup
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup heavy cream (optional)
Instructions
- Mash the ripe bananas in a bowl until smooth.
- Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat until bubbly and slightly browned.
- Add the mashed bananas, brown sugar, maple syrup, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla extract to the saucepan. Stir until well-blended.
- Reduce heat and simmer for about 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally until thickened.
- If using, stir in the heavy cream after thickening and simmer for another couple of minutes.
- Remove from heat, let cool slightly, then transfer to a jar or container. Store in the fridge for up to a week.
Notes
For a vegan version, substitute coconut oil for butter and use coconut milk instead of heavy cream. Adjust sweetness to taste.
