Description

Delightful savory rolls filled with cheese, herbs, and optional fillings, perfect for a comforting breakfast or snack.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons instant yeast
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water (around 100°F)
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese
  • 1 tablespoon dried herbs (basil, oregano, rosemary)
  • Optional: cooked bacon, sautéed veggies, minced garlic


Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture along with the olive oil. Stir until well combined.
  3. Turn out the dough onto a floured surface. Knead for about 8 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about an hour, or until doubled in size.
  5. Punch down the dough. Roll it out and sprinkle your fillings (cheese, herbs) on top. Roll it up tightly and slice into individual rolls.
  6. Place the rolls in a greased baking dish, cover again, and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  7. Preheat your oven to 375°F and bake for about 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Let them cool slightly before serving warm.

Notes

Don’t rush the rises for a fluffy texture. Experiment with your favorite fillings for a personalized touch.
