Description

Delicious red velvet pancakes with a hint of cocoa flavor, perfect for brunch or special occasions.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup All-Purpose Flour
  • 1/4 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 1 tbsp Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
  • 1 tbsp Baking Powder
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • 1 cup Milk (dairy or plant-based)
  • 1 Egg (or flax egg for vegan)
  • 2 tbsp Vegetable Oil or Melted Butter
  • 1 tbsp Red Food Coloring
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • Cream Cheese (for topping)

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
  2. In another bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, oil, red food coloring, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry mixture and stir until just combined. Don’t overmix; some lumps are perfectly okay!
  4. Lightly grease a skillet or griddle over medium heat.
  5. Pour about a quarter cup of batter onto the skillet. Cook until bubbles form on the surface, then flip and cook for another 1-2 minutes. Repeat with the remaining batter.
  6. Stack the pancakes high on a plate and top with whipped cream or a cream cheese mixture.

Notes

Ensure not to overmix the batter; lumpy batter yields fluffier pancakes. Check your skillet temperature to prevent burning.
