Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1¾ cups warm water
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ¼ cup butter, melted
- ½ cup milk
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 to 10 minutes until foamy.
- In a separate large bowl, whisk together the flour and salt.
- Once the yeast mixture is frothy, mix in melted butter and milk. Pour this into the flour mixture and stir until everything is just combined.
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface. Knead for about 6-8 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 30 minutes, or until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough, and divide it into preferred sizes.
- Place shaped rolls onto a greased baking pan, cover them, and let them rise again for about 20 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake rolls for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown. Let them cool slightly before serving.
Notes
For a dairy-free option, replace butter with olive oil. Additionally, you can freeze the rolls in an airtight container and reheat them as needed.
