- 4 oz cream cheese, softened (for frosting)
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened (for frosting)
- 1 cup powdered sugar (for frosting)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for frosting)
- A splash of milk (to thin out, if necessary)
Instructions
- Combine the warm milk, melted butter, and sugar in a large bowl. Let sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
- Whisk in the egg, pumpkin puree, and vanilla until smooth.
- In another bowl, mix flour, baking powder, instant yeast, cinnamon, and salt. Gradually stir this dry mixture into the pumpkin mixture until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough gently on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until soft and springy.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour until doubled in size.
- Mix together the filling by blending the brown sugar, cinnamon, and softened butter until spreadable.
- Punch down the risen dough and roll it out on a floured surface into a 12×18-inch rectangle. Spread the filling evenly across the surface.
- Roll the dough tightly from the longer side to create a log. Slice into 12 pieces and shape each into a pumpkin form.
- Place rolls into a greased baking dish and let rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake rolls for about 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
- While rolls cool, mix cream cheese frosting ingredients until smooth. Drizzle over warm rolls before serving.
