  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ cup pumpkin puree
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ cup brown sugar, packed (for filling)
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon (for filling)
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, softened (for filling)
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened (for frosting)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened (for frosting)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for frosting)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for frosting)
  • A splash of milk (to thin out, if necessary)


Instructions

  1. Combine the warm milk, melted butter, and sugar in a large bowl. Let sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Whisk in the egg, pumpkin puree, and vanilla until smooth.
  3. In another bowl, mix flour, baking powder, instant yeast, cinnamon, and salt. Gradually stir this dry mixture into the pumpkin mixture until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough gently on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until soft and springy.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour until doubled in size.
  6. Mix together the filling by blending the brown sugar, cinnamon, and softened butter until spreadable.
  7. Punch down the risen dough and roll it out on a floured surface into a 12×18-inch rectangle. Spread the filling evenly across the surface.
  8. Roll the dough tightly from the longer side to create a log. Slice into 12 pieces and shape each into a pumpkin form.
  9. Place rolls into a greased baking dish and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  10. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake rolls for about 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  11. While rolls cool, mix cream cheese frosting ingredients until smooth. Drizzle over warm rolls before serving.
