- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3 large eggs
- 1 tbsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup milk
- 1-2 tsp pink food coloring
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In a larger bowl, beat softened butter and granulated sugar until fluffy and light (about 3-5 minutes).
- Add eggs one at a time and mix in the vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the dry mixture alternating with milk, starting and ending with dry.
- Mix in pink food coloring until the desired shade of pink is reached.
- Pour the batter into a greased square pan and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- For the frosting, whip powdered sugar with heavy cream until smooth and fluffy.
- Once cooled, spread the frosting over the cake and cut into squares.
Notes
Allow the cake to cool completely before frosting to prevent melting. Store in an airtight container.
