Description
A delightful blend of sweet, nutty, and buttery goodness with a praline topping.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
- ½ cup unsalted butter (softened)
- 1 cup buttermilk (or use milk with a splash of vinegar)
- 3 large eggs
- 1 tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 cup pecans (chopped)
- ½ cup brown sugar
- ¼ cup unsalted butter
- 2 tbsp heavy cream
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- A pinch of salt
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
- Cream together softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, followed by the vanilla extract.
- Sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a separate bowl.
- Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture, alternating with the buttermilk, starting and ending with the flour mixture.
- Pour batter into the prepared loaf pan and bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- In a small saucepan, melt butter, brown sugar, heavy cream, and salt over medium heat, stirring until bubbling.
- Fold in chopped pecans and cook for an additional minute until thickened.
- Pour the praline mixture over the cake as soon as it comes out of the oven.
- Allow to cool in the pan for about 15 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
