Description

A decadent dessert with layers of buttery shortbread, gooey caramel, and rich chocolate that melts in your mouth.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • A pinch of salt
  • 1 can (14 ounces) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 cups chocolate chips (semi-sweet, dark, or milk)


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Cream together butter and sugar until fluffy. Gradually add flour and salt to form a dough. Press into a greased 9×9-inch pan and bake for 20 minutes until golden. Let cool.
  2. In a saucepan, combine sweetened condensed milk, brown sugar, and butter. Cook over medium heat, stirring until golden and thick (8-10 minutes). Pour over cooled shortbread and let set.
  3. Melt chocolate chips and pour over the caramel layer, spreading evenly. Cool until set in the fridge for quicker results.
  4. Slice into squares and serve with tea or coffee.
