Description

Delightful Maple Walnut Bars that combine chewy and crispy textures with the rich sweetness of maple and the crunch of walnuts.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour (or whole wheat)
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup maple syrup
  • ½ cup melted coconut oil (or unsalted butter)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8×8-inch baking dish with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the rolled oats, flour, brown sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon (if using).
  3. Pour in the maple syrup, melted coconut oil, and vanilla extract, and blend until just moistened.
  4. Gently fold in the chopped walnuts.
  5. Spread the mixture evenly in the prepared baking dish and press it down gently.
  6. Bake for 25-30 minutes until edges are golden and a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Allow to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then lift out using parchment paper and cool completely on a wire rack before slicing.

Notes

These bars can be served warm or at room temperature, paired with ice cream or fresh fruit.
