Ingredients

- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 cup light corn syrup
- 2 egg whites
- 1 cup chopped nuts (almonds or walnuts)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 pinch salt
Instructions
- Prepare Your Pan: Line an 8×8-inch baking dish with parchment paper.
- Cook Sugar Mixture: In a medium saucepan, combine sugar and corn syrup. Stir until dissolved and boil until it reaches 250°F.
- Whip Egg Whites: Beat egg whites in a bowl until stiff peaks form.
- Combine Mixtures: Pour hot sugar mixture into egg whites while mixing on low speed, then increase to medium and mix until thick and shiny.
- Fold in Nuts and Flavoring: Gently fold in chopped nuts and vanilla extract.
- Spread in Pan: Pour mixture into the prepared dish and let it cool completely.
- Cut into Bars: Lift nougat from the pan and slice into bars.
Notes
Try different nuts or add chocolate for variation. Store in an airtight container to maintain texture.
