Description

Delightful homemade nougat bars that melt in your mouth, made with sugar, honey, and nuts.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup light corn syrup
  • 2 egg whites
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (almonds or walnuts)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch salt


Instructions

  1. Prepare Your Pan: Line an 8×8-inch baking dish with parchment paper.
  2. Cook Sugar Mixture: In a medium saucepan, combine sugar and corn syrup. Stir until dissolved and boil until it reaches 250°F.
  3. Whip Egg Whites: Beat egg whites in a bowl until stiff peaks form.
  4. Combine Mixtures: Pour hot sugar mixture into egg whites while mixing on low speed, then increase to medium and mix until thick and shiny.
  5. Fold in Nuts and Flavoring: Gently fold in chopped nuts and vanilla extract.
  6. Spread in Pan: Pour mixture into the prepared dish and let it cool completely.
  7. Cut into Bars: Lift nougat from the pan and slice into bars.

Notes

Try different nuts or add chocolate for variation. Store in an airtight container to maintain texture.
