Description

A comforting and hearty casserole with seasoned ground beef, tender potatoes, and creamy goodness, perfect for family gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 4 medium potatoes (russet or Yukon gold)
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: garlic powder and Italian herbs

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef and diced onions until golden and fragrant. Drain excess fat if necessary.
  3. Stir in the cream of mushroom soup and seasonings until well coated.
  4. In a greased baking dish, layer sliced potatoes followed by the beef mixture. Repeat until all ingredients are used, finishing with a layer of potatoes on top.
  5. Sprinkle cheese generously over the top layer of potatoes.
  6. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for about 45 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 to 20 minutes until the potatoes are tender and the cheese is bubbly.
  7. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Slice potatoes evenly for consistent cooking; taste the meat mixture to ensure it’s seasoned to your liking.
