Description

Hillbilly Pie is a delightful mix of sweet and savory, capturing the essence of Southern comfort food with chocolate, nuts, and a rich filling in a flaky crust.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pie crust (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare the pie crust by following package instructions for store-bought or rolling out and placing homemade in a pie dish.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together the sugar, melted butter, and eggs until combined and smooth.
  4. Stir in chocolate chips and chopped nuts (if using) along with the vanilla extract.
  5. Pour the filling into the prepared pie crust, spreading it evenly.
  6. Bake for about 30-35 minutes or until the edges are golden brown and the center is set.
  7. Let it cool for at least 15 minutes before slicing.

Notes

Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or cold with whipped cream. Fresh berries and chocolate sauce make excellent toppings.
