Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar in a large mixing bowl until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until fully combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt, then gradually mix this into the wet ingredients.
- Add food coloring if desired and mix until well blended.
- Scoop out tablespoon-sized portions of dough, roll into balls, and flatten slightly or use cookie cutters for fun shapes.
- Place cookies on prepared sheets, leaving space between them, and bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are slightly golden.
- Allow cookies to cool before decorating with icing and sprinkles.
