Description

Delightful and festive cookies shaped like ghosts, pumpkins, and more, perfect for celebrating Halloween.


Ingredients

  • 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup unsalted butter (or coconut oil for dairy-free)
  • 2 large eggs (or flax eggs for vegan)
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • Food coloring and icing for decoration


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, combine softened butter with granulated and brown sugar. Beat until creamy and fluffy.
  3. Add eggs one by one and vanilla extract. Beat until fully combined.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt until blended.
  5. Gradually mix dry ingredients into wet mixture until a dough forms.
  6. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and chill for about 30 minutes.
  7. Dust the surface with flour, roll out the chilled dough to about ¼ inch thick, and use cookie cutters to shape designs.
  8. Place cookies on a lined baking sheet and bake for 8-10 minutes or until lightly golden.
  9. Let cookies cool completely before decorating with icing and food coloring.

Notes

Chill the dough to prevent spreading. Decorate creatively with icing using piping bags.
