- 4 cups All-Purpose Flour
- 2 1/4 teaspoons Active Dry Yeast
- 1/4 cup Sugar
- 1 cup Milk
- 1/2 cup Butter, softened
- 1/2 teaspoon Salt
- 2 tablespoons Cinnamon
- 4 ounces Cream Cheese
- 2 cups Powdered Sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon Orange Food Coloring (optional)
- Sprinkles or Edible Eyes (for decoration)
Instructions
- In a small bowl, combine warm milk with a teaspoon of sugar and the yeast. Let it sit for 5 to 10 minutes until foamy.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, salt, and sugar. Create a well and add the yeast mixture along with softened butter. Mix until the dough forms.
- Knead dough on a floured surface for 5 to 8 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let rise for about 60 minutes until doubled in size.
- In a small bowl, mix cinnamon and sugar for the filling. Set aside.
- Once risen, punch down the dough and roll it out to about 1/4 inch thickness.
- Spread softened butter over rolled dough; sprinkle evenly with cinnamon-sugar mixture.
- Roll the dough tightly into a log and slice into 12 rolls.
- Place rolls in a greased baking dish, cover, and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake for 20 to 25 minutes until golden brown.
- Whip up the frosting with cream cheese, powdered sugar, and orange food coloring while the rolls cool.
- Spread frosting over warm rolls and decorate with sprinkles or edible eyes.
