Description

A fun and festive twist on the classic red velvet cake, this Green Velvet Cake is moist, fluffy, and vibrantly green, perfect for any gathering.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1-2 tbsp green food coloring (gel)
  • Cream cheese frosting (for frosting)


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line 9-inch round cake pans with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.
  3. In another bowl, mix together vegetable oil, eggs, buttermilk, vanilla extract, and green food coloring until smooth.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and mix until just combined; do not overmix.
  5. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Let the cakes cool in the pans for about 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  7. Once cool, frost the cakes with cream cheese frosting.
