Description

A comforting dessert made from stale bread and creamy custard, enhanced with cinnamon and optional add-ins like raisins or chocolate chips.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 cups stale bread, cut into cubes
  • 2 cups milk
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 cup raisins (or chocolate chips/dried cranberries)
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Place your bread cubes in a large mixing bowl.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, sugar, vanilla, and cinnamon until combined.
  4. Pour the milk mixture over the bread and stir to soak all the bread. Fold in the raisins or any extras.
  5. Transfer the mixture to a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
  6. Bake for about 40-45 minutes until the top is golden brown and the center is set.
  7. Allow to cool and serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

For a special touch, serve with caramel sauce or vanilla ice cream.
