Description

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup water
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chocolate (dark or semi-sweet)
  • Edible gold dust


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. In a saucepan, combine water, butter, salt, and sugar, and heat until the butter melts.
  3. Add flour and stir vigorously until it forms a ball.
  4. Let it cool for a few minutes, then incorporate eggs one at a time.
  5. Transfer the dough to a piping bag and pipe small mounds onto a lined baking sheet.
  6. Bake for about 20 to 25 minutes until golden and puffed.
  7. Whip heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla until soft peaks form, then fill each profiterole.
  8. Melt chocolate and cool slightly before dipping the tops of the profiteroles.
  9. Sprinkle gold dust on the chocolate before it sets for a festive finish.

Notes

Keep the oven shut while baking for the best rise. Cool puffs before filling them. Experiment with different fillings for variation.
