Description

A silky, rich turkey gravy perfect for enhancing your holiday meals and any roast turkey dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • Turkey drippings
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour (or cornstarch for gluten-free)
  • 2 cups chicken or turkey broth
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste
  • Optional herbs (fresh thyme or rosemary)

Instructions

  1. Collect your drippings from the roasted turkey.
  2. Skim off the excess fat, saving about 1/4 cup.
  3. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter and sprinkle in the flour, stirring constantly for 2-3 minutes.
  4. Slowly whisk the broth into the roux, adding in your reserved turkey drippings.
  5. Season with salt, pepper, and optional herbs, and simmer for 5-10 minutes until thickened.
  6. Taste and adjust seasonings before serving over your turkey and sides.

Notes

Whisk constantly to avoid lumps. Adjust consistency by adding more broth if too thick.
