- Zest of 1 orange
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease two round cake pans with butter and dust with flour.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, beat together granulated sugar and eggs until creamy and light.
- Add milk and vanilla extract; stir to combine.
- Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until just combined.
- Fold in ricotta, orange zest, and mini chocolate chips until incorporated.
- Pour batter into prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool in pans briefly, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Beat powdered sugar and ricotta until smooth; spread filling between layers and on top of the cake.
