- 1 cup Granulated Sugar (or brown sugar)
- 1/2 cup Unsalted Butter, softened (or margarine)
- 2 Eggs (or flaxseed meal with water as a vegan substitute)
- 1/2 cup Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
- 1 teaspoon Baking Powder (or baking soda)
- 1 cup Chocolate Chips (or white/dark chocolate chips)
- 1/2 cup Nuts, chopped (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, and baking powder. Set aside.
- Cream the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
- Beat in the eggs, one at a time, ensuring each is well incorporated.
- Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until just combined.
- Fold in the chocolate chips and nuts if using.
- Use a cookie scoop to place spoonfuls of dough onto a lined baking sheet, leaving space in between.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, until edges are set.
- Cool on the baking sheet for a couple of minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
Notes
For a variation, try mixing in some orange zest for added flavor. Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.
